The pictures below, mostly newspaper cuttings, were collected over many years by various people.
Some of the articles are well known while others we know very little about.
This part of the site, then, will hopefully be a two-way communication area.
We hope that the articles and information contained within will give some insight
into The Bexley Fencing Club but we also hope that it may jog the odd memory or
two and enable us to find out more.
As with many historical artefacts, it is what is not told that may be important and
that is what we are trying to find out.
We are always looking for information about the club, so if you know anything
about The Bexley Fencing Club, anything about any of the pictures or articles,
anything about any of the people in the pictures or articles (or are one of those people)
then please get in touch with us. As we glean and discover, we will add additional pictures, notes and anything else we can find.
1992 to 1995
Bexley Fencing Club was formed in 1949 or 1950, the latter is more likely, thanks in part to the introduction of Fencing into the programme of the Crook Log Adult Education Centre in 1949. The Millennium saw the club with a small but enthusiastic group of fencers...
Can you tell us anything more?

Kentish Times February 1992 The semi-finals of the Moyre Florette Open sounds good but what is it? We haven’t been able to find anyone that has heard of this competition. Can anyone shed any light on the subject? The Kent Epee Championship was to be hosted by BFC but it has been changed, Does anyone know why that was?

News Shopper September 1993 The Time For Sport demonstration was held at Hall Place in the main hall. There are some photos of it still and we will be trying to get them onto the website gallery as soon as possible. Has anyone got any memories of the match at Hall Place that they would like to share?

Kentish Times May 1994 It seems that the small matter of being seventy didn’t hold back Len at the Veterans Championship.

Kentish Times July 1994 An annual four-a-side epee match with Birbeck. Does anyone know when this began, or when it stopped. There are a number of names in the article, do you know one or more of them? Are you one of them?

News Shopper August 1994 Some things never change of course, the Bexley Fencing Club still fences all year round and is open to fencers from any other club that wishes to visit us on Wednesdays, either for an extra evening or while your club is shut over the long summer holiday.

Bexley Times February 1995 The misty morning and the glade are difficult to provide but all are welcome whether you are an experienced fencer or have never picked up a weapon before.

Kentish Times December 1995 Another Kent Foil Championship and another medal for Adam it seems. BFC certainly seemed to be well represented there.
